StartOperaMini: Mortscript for *easily* launching Opera Mini

This script will allow you to launch Opera Mini directly and bypass the JVM's midlet selection screen. It will also allow you to use Opera Mini to respond to links, such as links in emails. Essentially, this script will help you use Opera Mini as the default browser for most browser-related tasks.

[REQUIREMENTS]
(Click to download)
1. Jbed JVM (tested with Jbed 3.1)
2. Opera Mini 4.0 or 4.1(beta)
3. Mortscript 4.1

[INSTALLATION]
1. Make sure Jbed, Mortscript, and Opera Mini are installed and working.
2. Copy the script to anywhere on your device. An often used place is in '\Program Files\Mortscript'. The script can be named anything you like, but in these instructions, it will be named StartOperaMini.mscr.
3. Run the script and it will start an installation wizard that will try to figure out how to run Opera Mini on your device, perhaps ask you a few questions, save its results to an .ini file for faster subsequent loading, and finally launch Opera Mini. If Opera Mini launches correctly, then installation is complete. The _ini.txt file (eg: StartOperaMini_ini.txt) is located in the same location as the script. If registry changes were made, a backup of the initial registry settings is cumulatively stored here in a _reg_backup.txt file (eg: (eg: StartOperaMini_reg_backup.txt).

[USAGE]
To simply launch Opera Mini, simply run the script or reference the script in shortcuts or other launcher applications. * To have Opera Mini open a link such as one in an email, simply invoke the link. The installation wizard would have already made the necessary registry changes so Opera Mini, via the script, is launched in response to a link.

[CONFIGURATION]
To re-run the installation wizard again to make different choices, simply delete the _ini.txt file and invoke the script. * When run, script will usually check if Opera Mini started correctly. If it detects a problem, it will ask if you want to re-run the installation wizard.

[LIMITATIONS]
1. Opening links to local files will invoke Internet Explorer since Opera Mini only works with Internet-accessible pages.

[UNINSTALLATION]
1. We want to invoke the installation wizard so we can undo the registry changes that reference the script. First, delete the _ini.txt file and invoke the script.
2. At the registry update screen, select 'Use IE for links' to restore Internet Explorer as the program to respond to links.
3. Quit Opera Mini after it starts if you like but it's not necessary.
4. Delete the script file. Also delete _ini.txt file, _reg_backup.txt, OperaIcon.dll and \windows\Start Menu\Start Opera Mini.lnk. You may want to first examine the _reg_backup.txt file to see what your original registry settings were.

PIM Backup

The PIM backup application is a tool that allows to backup/restore personal information stored on windows mobile based pocket devices.

Concerning the personal information, I refer to contacts, appointments, tasks, messages, calls,...

The backup is totally independent of the version of Windows Mobile running on the device and independent of the device itself. The backup is also independent of the language used on the device. You can easily backup on a Chinese device and restore in a German one.

There are two kinds of backups. The binary based backup has been implemented in order to have a backup/restore process which is fast and more reliable, the disadvantage being that the backup contents cannot be easily modified or viewed. The text based backup has been implemented in order to see/edit the contents on a pc for instance.

Step by step guide to implement Google AdSense

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant, unobtrusive Google ads on their website's, Blog's or Forum's content pages and earn money. Because the ads are related to what your users are looking for on your site, you'll finally have a way to both monetize and enhance your content pages.

It's also a way for web site publishers to provide Google search to their site users, and to earn money by displaying Google ads on the search results pages.

This program is free, and combines pay-per-click and pay-per-impression advertising - meaning you get paid for valid clicks on the ads on your site or search results pages as well as impressions on your content pages. Check out there program policies and if you comply with it then go ahead and complete the online application. One application gets you approved for AdSense for contents and AdSense for search and referrals you can decide to use any combination of these products on your pages.

If you are accepted into the program, you can log in to your new account and get the HTML code to insert into your webpages.

How much will I earn through Google Adsense?

The Google ads you are able to display on your content pages can be either cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-1000-impressions (CPM) ads, while AdSense for search results pages show exclusively CPC ads. This means that advertisers pay either when users click on ads, or when the advertiser's ad is shown on your site. You'll receive a portion of the amount paid for either activity on your website. Although Google don't disclose the exact revenue share.

The best way to find out how much you'll earn is to sign up and start showing ads on your webpages. There's no cost, no obligation, and getting started is quick and easy. You can sign up now from the AdSense home page.

Once you're a part of Google AdSense, you can view your earnings at any time by logging in to your account at https://www.google.com/adsense and clicking the Reports tab. You'll be able to see the total number of page and ad unit impressions, ad clicks, click through rate, effective CPM, and your total earnings so you can get an idea of how well the program is performing for you and how much you can expect to earn over time in the program.

When do I get paid for it?

Google will send your check or EFT payment within approximately 30 days of the end of the month in which your account balance reaches US$100.

For example, if you earn $40 in January and $70 in February, Google will send payment to you by the end of March.

If your account balance is less than US$100 at the end of the month, they will roll your earnings over to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached. Balances include the combined earnings of AdSense for content, AdSense for search and referrals.

Step by Step Guide for Novice:

Once your AdSense application has been approved, you can follow this guide to get started with AdSense right away. The steps below will help you add an AdSense ad unit to your site.

1. Sign into your account and choose the AdSense Setup tab. On the Get Ads page, click the AdSense for Content link to create a standard Google ad unit.

2. Next, select the ad type. Since you'll be creating a standard ad unit, choose the Ad Unit radio button. To enable the widest selection of ads to display on your pages, leave the drop-down set to Text and image ads (default).

3. Now, take a moment to customize your ads so they'll match the look and feel of your site. Select the size you'd like from one of our different ad formats, keeping in mind that larger and wider ad units tend to perform better.

4. Next, select colors for your ads. You choose one of our predefined color palettes or create your own. You can view a sample of how the ads will look based on the colors you've selected. You might also want to review our tips on choosing colors.

5. If you're interested in tracking the performance of your ad unit, you can add a channel. Channels provide more granular reports for the performance of specific ad units. If you haven't created a channel yet, you can skip this step by clicking Continue.

6. Next you'll be prompted to name your AdSense ad unit. This will allow you to change the appearance or settings of your ad easily through your account in the future, so select a name that will allow you to easily identify this AdSense unit later.

7. Finally, it will provide you with the ad code for your AdSense ad unit. Click anywhere inside the grey box to select the code, then right-click and select copy. You can now paste the code into the HTML source code of your site.

Earn money from Google Adsense

Earning money from Google Adsense is one of the easiest method. People just needs to make a website, blog or a forum and place an Adsense ad. To create an Adsense account click here "Google Adsense" and register to get the adsense account. In order to put on google adsense on a webpage, the webmaster will insert JavaScript code into the HTML page. You don't need to know JavaScript or HTML code, as it is very easy to implement. Google Adsense ads will be displayed in the web pages their members create.

Revenue from Google Adsense is coming from either per-click or per-thousand-impressions. Per-click means when people click on and ads to visit the advertiser's website. Per-thousand-impressions means when a web page that has Google Ads has been viewed for 1000 times.
Now for instance if you consider to earn $1 a day per page, you need, per page…
  • 400 visitors, 5% click-through rate (CTR) and average 5c payout.
  • Or 200 visitors, 10% CTR and an average 5c payout.
  • Or 100 visitors, 10% CTR, and an average 10c payout.
  • Or 100 visitors, 5% CTR, and an average 20c payout
Now see whether this can be achieved by your site, if not, create more websites.

Microsoft Unveils Smartphone Advancements to Improve Ability to Work and Play With One Phone: Company demonstrates new version of Internet Explorer Mo

LAS VEGAS— April 1, 2008 —Windows Mobile is improving smartphones to better meet people’s rapidly expanding work and personal needs, Microsoft Corp. today announced. At CTIA Wireless 2008, the company unveiled the newest version of Internet Explorer Mobile, which adds desktop-grade Web browsing to Windows Mobile phones. In addition, Microsoft announced Windows Mobile 6.1, an update for its Windows Mobile software that includes new time-saving features, easier phone navigation and management, and increased security safeguards.

“People want a single phone that’s flexible enough to meet their needs throughout their day, whether it’s connecting to work or your everyday life,” said Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “The innovations we’ve added to our Windows Mobile software ultimately make it easier to manage your world.”

“Microsoft is taking the necessary steps to broaden its consumer
appeal while also addressing the complex mobile needs of the
enterprise,” said Ben Bajarin, analyst with Creative Strategies.
“Internet Explorer Mobile and Windows Mobile 6.1 demonstrate
Microsoft’s ability to harness its technologies to bring tangible
innovations and benefits to customers and partners.”

Updated Internet Explorer Mobile Brings the Quality of Desktop Web Browsing to Phones

The
new version of Internet Explorer Mobile adds the ability to easily view
full-screen Web pages and multimedia on the Web with a smartphone. By
taking advantage of Internet Explorer 6 technologies and supporting
established and upcoming industry standards such as H.264, Adobe Flash
and Microsoft Silverlight, the updated Internet Explorer Mobile gives
people a rich mobile Internet experience. The update will be available
to mobile phone partners in the third quarter of 2008, with the first
Windows Mobile phones using the new version expected to be available by
the end of 2008.

Windows Mobile Update Drives Simpler Experience

Windows
Mobile 6.1 features several key updates based on customer feedback,
including the capability to make the most critical information readily
available at a glance, quicker phone setup, and enhanced features
adapted for the small screen. In addition, if coupled with System
Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 or Exchange Server 2007 SP1, Windows
Mobile 6.1 provides the best experience for IT professionals to manage
mobile phones for businesses.

Windows Mobile 6.1 will help people
get more from their phones by bringing updates to what they care about
most. With Windows Mobile 6.1 users will be able to accomplish the
following:

Stay up to date and share from a single location.
Glance at and respond to notifications such as missed calls, upcoming
appointments and new messages from the home screen as well as play
music and share photos.

Get up and running in minutes. From
setting up e-mail, a Bluetooth headset or Wi-Fi, the new Getting
Started Center makes the phone experience intuitive and simple.

Save time with features adapted for the small screen.
Easily flag, delete or move groups of messages and keep track of
conversations through threaded text messaging. Zoom in on text or
pictures, or view an entire Web page at once.

Help keep business information protected. Support
for System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 helps administrators
manage phones similarly to a Windows-based PC or access company data
that may be behind a firewall; and support for Exchange Server 2007 SP1
advanced mobile policies helps businesses manage and administer
security for phones while enabling people to find, share, and use
information no matter where they are.

More information is available at http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/apr08/04-01EnterpriseMobilePR.mspx.
