StartOperaMini: Mortscript for *easily* launching Opera Mini

This script will allow you to launch Opera Mini directly and bypass the JVM's midlet selection screen. It will also allow you to use Opera Mini to respond to links, such as links in emails. Essentially, this script will help you use Opera Mini as the default browser for most browser-related tasks.

[REQUIREMENTS]
(Click to download)
1. Jbed JVM (tested with Jbed 3.1)
2. Opera Mini 4.0 or 4.1(beta)
3. Mortscript 4.1

[INSTALLATION]
1. Make sure Jbed, Mortscript, and Opera Mini are installed and working.
2. Copy the script to anywhere on your device. An often used place is in '\Program Files\Mortscript'. The script can be named anything you like, but in these instructions, it will be named StartOperaMini.mscr.
3. Run the script and it will start an installation wizard that will try to figure out how to run Opera Mini on your device, perhaps ask you a few questions, save its results to an .ini file for faster subsequent loading, and finally launch Opera Mini. If Opera Mini launches correctly, then installation is complete. The _ini.txt file (eg: StartOperaMini_ini.txt) is located in the same location as the script. If registry changes were made, a backup of the initial registry settings is cumulatively stored here in a _reg_backup.txt file (eg: (eg: StartOperaMini_reg_backup.txt).

[USAGE]
To simply launch Opera Mini, simply run the script or reference the script in shortcuts or other launcher applications. * To have Opera Mini open a link such as one in an email, simply invoke the link. The installation wizard would have already made the necessary registry changes so Opera Mini, via the script, is launched in response to a link.

[CONFIGURATION]
To re-run the installation wizard again to make different choices, simply delete the _ini.txt file and invoke the script. * When run, script will usually check if Opera Mini started correctly. If it detects a problem, it will ask if you want to re-run the installation wizard.

[LIMITATIONS]
1. Opening links to local files will invoke Internet Explorer since Opera Mini only works with Internet-accessible pages.

[UNINSTALLATION]
1. We want to invoke the installation wizard so we can undo the registry changes that reference the script. First, delete the _ini.txt file and invoke the script.
2. At the registry update screen, select 'Use IE for links' to restore Internet Explorer as the program to respond to links.
3. Quit Opera Mini after it starts if you like but it's not necessary.
4. Delete the script file. Also delete _ini.txt file, _reg_backup.txt, OperaIcon.dll and \windows\Start Menu\Start Opera Mini.lnk. You may want to first examine the _reg_backup.txt file to see what your original registry settings were.
